"East, West, just points of the compass, each as stupid as the other."

The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." Willam Arthur Ward

What teacher doesn’t want to be great and inspirational?  I’ve looked out at a sea of blank, expressionless faces many times in my relatively short career as a teacher.  My name is Cindy Tranfaglia and I’ve been a history teacher at Revere High School for the past three years.  Prior to that and for seven years, I worked in Revere as a special education teacher for a small learning group.  I transferred to Revere from Marblehead Middle School where I worked as an inclusion specialist for two.  So, let’s see, that makes 12 years that I could have been, at times, conducting dream research in my classroom.

My experience as a special education teacher has exposed me to unique learning styles and has impelled me to experiment different ways to try to inspire students.  After many crumbled up lesson plans and dazed and confused students, a classroom geared toward student discovery that utilizes media and technology seems to revive kids back to consciousness.  It’s a pleasure to take this course and become inspired myself so I can pass on the thrill of learning!
