Caliometry is so important! So few people take the time to actually stop and think about what (energy-wise) they are putting into their body. What's the "Big Idea" of this lesson plan?
Students will extract information from nutrition labels and learn about how food is used as energy in the body. Students will also learn the importances of eating certain types of food; specially, the amount of energy (in Cal) stored in fat vs. protein. Using this information, students will compete in an "end of the unit" review game, purchasing food with points to maintain the energy of their community.
