I include here a few basic guidelines designed to make use of the list happier for all. I must confess to modeling them on the guidelines of Tim Materer's excellent Merrill list.
1. The list is devoted to Vollmann's work. The best informal criterion for posting is simply relevance to the work.
2. There are a few good reasons (archives, interest levels of other listmembers) for maintaining Subject lines across postings, so endeavor to do so unless shifts in conversation recommend a change.
3. Save bandwith and the time of everyone else by editing quotes from earlier messages as much as possible. Also avoid long *.sig appendages for the same reasons.
