In the pre-writing stage of essay three, there were some assignments that really jumpstarted my brainstorming and writing:
Because I had such strong feelings against The Woman Warrior, writing the response assignment was extremely helpful. It put my anger and emotions into physical words, and the assignment revealed how much the work affected me. From that response, it was a hint that I should probably focus my final paper on that particular autobiographical work.
Another helpful writing task was the prospectus due for the oral presentation. The prospectus really forced me to think about what I wanted to write about, what research I was going to use, and how I was going to argue my point. Expressing my plan in words and outlining early gave me enough time to decide the content before writing the actual paper.
