Organization was the key concept I learned from the essay one series.  For Essay 1.1, my outline was elementary: a simple thesis and a few pieces of supporting evidence.

After the instruction on essay and introduction structure, my organization improved considerably.  By organizing Essay 1.2 differently, I found that I had better control of structure and more content to work with.  Even my outline had more information.

 

Another useful tool I learned was summarizing my essay into one paragraph:

Because I really struggled with organization, writing the summary gave me direction in how my essay should flow and connect to each supporting point.  Each sentence in the condensed paragraph was information that I could expand on into a body paragraph.  It also revealed what information was necessary in order to support my thesis.
