Lessons
This essay taught me more about myself as a writer than anything else in this course, and I had my pride knocked down a few notches in the process. I overcame writer’s block with research and revision, improving my argumentation skills through reorganization. I learned that I did not know all the tools that existed, such as the “backwards outline.” Before this essay, I tended to only briefly peruse the comments of my peer editors. I realized I needed to take commentary on my drafts seriously if I wanted to produce a stellar paper, a lesson that would come in handy in my next essay here. By this point in the semester, I felt more comfortable writing abstracts and using APA citations, but I still faced occasional difficulties, proof that there is always more to learn. I departed from this assignment feeling confident that I could patiently face whatever difficulties awaited me in my final essay.
