Endings

Nothing lasts forever, and WR150 The First Amendment is no exception. This portfolio dedicates itself to documenting my growth throughout this course, and this paper is a downright dandy final product. Classes are not the only things that have endings.

The conclusion of this paper caught me off guard even as I was writing it. I wanted to present a hypothetical solution to the problem WikiLeaks posed, but in all my knowledge about the First Amendment, I came up with no answer. I decided that it was time to embrace the real meaning of this course. I took what I had learned and applied it to real world to find my hypothetical solution. Suddenly, everyone shudders at the thought of school stepping out of its neat box separate from actual life; I cringed as well.

I discovered that sometimes government and scholarly First Amendment theory do not immediately solve a problem at hand. Another force fills the gap until new opinions and solutions are developed. In the case of WikiLeaks, I propose that this force is consumer and market backlash. This essay made the transition from being consumed by First Amendment theory to painting a picture how that theory applies to other factors.

This is true growth.
