I decided to include a section dedicated to planning in this part of my portfolio because of its importance in my third essay. This process started when Professor Queen asked our class to diagram our ideas for our first drafts. Immediately, a comic book layout popped into my head, and I began to draw. The comic ended up on the chalkboard, and I realized that it would be a good idea to continue putting my ideas into picture format. As the weeks went by, the comic evolved with my drafting. The different versions are posted below. Some have dialogue, and some do not, but the pictures tell the real story.

Until I submitted my final draft, I would read and reread my essay thinking, "Something is wrong with this." I made lists of what other information should be added. I outlined. The uneasy feeling would not go away. Call it attention to detail. Call it grade paranoia. Regardless, I found myself isolating sections of my paper, revising the wording and shifting around pieces of information until I felt content with the results. I stopped having to tell the nighttime employees of the Print Center in Mugar Library my name. Again and again, they would hand me another printed section of my essay. Taking it back to my spot, I would commense scribbling on it and marking it up with changes. This process of revision I had come to refine over the course of the semester lasted right up until I had a printed, final draft, which I went through with a pencil checking my citations.

The picture below is of my E3 folder on my laptop by the time the final version was submitted. The amount of planning, drafting, revising, sectioning off, etc. that I did on this essay is clear in the amount of Word documents. They are conveniently and confusingly labeled E3a through E3ce.
