Close reading of four Shakespeare plays along with some of the international adaptations and rewritings they have inspired. Focus on the Shakespeare “brand” as well as postcolonial, feminist, and nationalist responses to Shakespeare in various countries, periods, and genres. 

Here you'll find one of the essays I wrote for my first semester seminar for UHC. This essay had two parts. The first part asked us to trace a theme through one of the plays we had read. I chose Hamlet. The second part asked us to explain how we would direct the play/movie to emphasize this theme.
