What are the prominent schools of Islam, according to Malik?

There are four main schools of Islam. There are the traditinoalist, the fundementalists, the islamist, and the modernists. However, I dont agree with Malik that Islam has changed much. There are still the people who follow Islam as a religion and not being affiliated with any specific group. People are starting to create groups that dont show the real point of islam. These different schools that he explains divide islam. And if he is writing to non-muslims who already have bad conceptions of Islam, misinterpretation of these schools could arise. These "political Islamists" and other groups should not be affilated as a form of Islam but somehow seperate.

In what ways was the Versailles Peace Treaty problematic?

The Versailles Peace Treaty was created without the consent or collaberation of the Germans. Article 231, added by the French, stated that the Germans had to accept "full responsibility both for starting the war and for making good on the losses and damage it had caused (Corrin, 172)." Of course, this angered the Germans and the treaty was indirectly one of the causes of World War II.

What accounts for the high number of casualties in World War I?

The high number of casualties were for several factors. One of the greatest is the stalemates that were occurring on all sides. Everyone was expecting to win quickly but that was not the case during World War I. Technology was a second reason for the high number of causalities. The use of poisonous gases and new forms of artillery truly 'upgraded' the war to something unseen in past wars. Lastly, the horrible conditions of the trenches and of warfare in general created many illnesses and diseases.
