Journal 13: Macbeth Acts 3-4

I wonder if the witches were lying to Banquo. I know we discussed this point in class but I’m still not sure of whether or not the witches were biased. My opinion of it would be that yes, they indeed are biased. They may find amusement in the conflict they are creating through their influence.

I also find it disturbing how Macbeth can betray his friend Banquo so quickly over the title of king. But, I do understand it because being king is the most powerful position in their sovereignty.

Another disturbing event was when Macbeth asked his queen to put on a act of friendliness towards Banquo before having him killed. This kind of superficiality irks me.

Although we discussed the whole incident with the eight kings and the mirror, I still don’t understand its significance.
